SENDirect is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work at a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Dagenham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting students who have experienced challenges in mainstream education. As a PRU Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support, helping students to build confidence, engage with learning, and develop social skills. Experience in a similar setting is preferred but not essential for the right candidate with the passion to make a difference.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support across various subjects.
- Help create a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
- Monitor and report on student progress and behaviour.
- Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
- Foster relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience working with young people in a PRU or similar setting (preferred).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability, patience, and resilience.
- Relevant qualifications or training in education or youth work (desirable but not essential).
