We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a special school in Ilford. This full-time, temporary-to-permanent role is an exciting opportunity to work closely with students who require additional support in their learning and personal development.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping them engage with their education, develop confidence, and achieve their potential. Working alongside teachers and specialist staff, you will provide tailored assistance to ensure each student thrives in a supportive and inclusive environment.
This position is ideal for individuals who are patient, adaptable, and passionate about working with young people. Experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential, as full training and ongoing support will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with additional learning needs.
- Assist in delivering tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher.
- Support students with communication, behaviour management, and personal development.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to implement individual learning plans.
- Monitor and record student progress, feeding back to teaching staff and parents where necessary.
- Uphold safeguarding policies and ensure the welfare and well-being of all students.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working with children with SEND is desirable but not essential.
- A patient, proactive, and empathetic approach to supporting students.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
