Are you an experienced and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant ready to make a difference? We are looking for a HLTA to join a supportive and inclusive Special School in Basildon. This is a temporary to permanent opportunity, perfect for someone who thrives on creating an engaging and nurturing environment for students with diverse learning needs.
As an HLTA, you will play a pivotal role in supporting teachers, leading small group interventions, and covering lessons where needed. This role requires a proactive and flexible individual who is passionate about education and fostering a positive learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver pre-prepared lessons to ensure continued progress during teacher absences.
- Support the teacher in creating and maintaining an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
Assist with the planning, preparation, and evaluation of learning activities.
- Monitor and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to teachers and parents.
- Work collaboratively with the teaching team to support individual and group learning needs.
- Promote independence and self-confidence in students through tailored support.
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment in line with safeguarding policies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant HLTA qualification is essential.
- Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths grades A-C or equivalent).
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices and procedures.
- Adaptability, enthusiasm, and a commitment to continuous learning and development.
